El asunto Miguel contains a series of sculptures by Diego Miguel Mirabella, born from the collaboration between the artist and Peruvian mate burilado artisans, a pre-Inca engraving technique on ornamental gourds widespread in different regions of Peru. Mirabella entrusted the artisans with sentences and personal suggestions so they could be blended with more traditional representations of Andean culture. The artworks tower over pedestals especially made by the artist with various materials and techniques: visual interpretations of a travel account through the South American country and its landscape. The publication includes a text by Christian Oxenius and a conversation between the artist and Saverio Verini.
